A home where everything has its place – and nothing is left to chance.

This six-room penthouse in a new residential building was redesigned as a five-room layout to create larger, more generous spaces. The clients – a couple with two teenage children – came with a clear and refined vision: a clean, warm aesthetic that would incorporate existing furniture, reflect their lifestyle, and fulfill design aspirations they had carried with them from their previous home. All within a defined budget.

The apartment is organized into two distinct zones. The public area – an open, flowing space encompassing the entrance, dining area, kitchen, living room, and guest restroom. The private area – a corridor leading to the bedrooms, laundry room, and bathrooms, each bedroom with its own private bathroom. A separate guest bedroom was also included, with access to a bathroom featuring a large shower.

The main structural change was the removal of one room to expand and open up the public space – a decision that transformed the entire feel of the apartment.

The design language is defined by a balance between clean lines and warm materials. Large-format, light-colored tiles with a subtle marble appearance were selected for the flooring. The kitchen and living room serve as the primary focal points – designed using a combination of white cabinetry and wood veneer, creating a quiet dialogue between brightness and warmth. The same veneer was carried through to the tall kitchen cabinets housing built-in appliances, creating a cohesive and unified look.

In the living room, a custom carpentry unit integrates storage and a TV system while connecting visually to the dining area. The wall is fully clad with custom woodwork – incorporating a display cabinet, open shelving, and a concealed door to the electrical cabinet. Every functional element is hidden, by design and by the clients’ specific request.

Lighting plays a central role throughout the home. Hidden ceiling lighting creates ambiance, while a central decorative fixture in the living room – featuring glass elements shaped like birds – serves as a sculptural focal point. Perimeter wall lighting adds depth, and the kitchen hood doubles as a suspended lighting element. Technical lighting was carefully calibrated to serve its function without competing with the decorative elements around it.

The corridor – long and narrow by nature – received special attention. A thoughtful lighting treatment was designed to break its length visually through focal points and illuminated artwork, transforming a functional passage into an experience.

The bedrooms feature darker parquet flooring, creating a warm and slightly intimate atmosphere. Each room was individually styled with customized furniture, a unique color scheme, tailored lighting, and textiles – curtains, rugs, and cushions – that reflect the personality of each family member.

The apartment’s large wraparound rooftop terrace was treated as a true extension of the interior – divided into distinct functional zones: seating areas, a dining area, storage, a grill station with an outdoor kitchenette, a jacuzzi area, and a lounging space.

The result is a cohesive home where each space has its own identity – and every detail, seen or hidden, was considered with the same level of care.
