When there is nowhere left to build outward, you build upward.
This project involved the renovation, expansion, and interior design of an existing private home – with the addition of a new gallery floor at roof level, built using lightweight construction and exposed whitewashed wooden beams. During the roof construction, existing window openings were enlarged and skylights were introduced into the wooden ceiling, flooding the new level with natural light.
The result is a luxurious private suite – a world apart from the rest of the home.
The staircase leading up to this new level was designed with integrated lighting strips that emphasize the sense of height and openness, gently guiding the eye upward even where the ceiling slopes downward.
The central space serves as a family home cinema, equipped with advanced systems carefully selected to maximize the experience within a compact and characterful room. Flanking this central space on either side are two contrasting retreats.
On one side – a workspace with a large desk and a lounge corner designed for reading and quiet relaxation. On the other – a custom-built dry sauna, precisely fitted to the dimensions and angles of the roof structure, followed by a luxurious bathroom featuring a large skylight positioned directly above the shower. Natural materials throughout create an atmosphere closer to a private spa than a family bathroom.
