When the children leave home, life changes – and so does the home.
This couple came to me while still living in their duplex, unsure whether a new apartment in a luxury residential tower in Ramat Hasharon was the right move. After an initial consultation, it became clear that the location, size, and quality of the new building were well suited to their next chapter.
The challenge, however, was in the layout. Although the apartment originally had five rooms, the rooms themselves were small, the public spaces were poorly positioned, and the kitchen – placed directly at the entrance – left little room to breathe or expand. The dining and living areas felt constrained and disconnected.
I redesigned the entire layout from the ground up. One room was removed to create a generous living room alongside a separate family TV area – since the main living room was reserved for hosting, without a television. The kitchen was expanded into a large, open space with a generous pantry, and hidden storage was integrated throughout the apartment within wall niches.
A spacious guest room was created, doubling as the wife’s office, with its own en-suite bathroom. The master suite includes a large bedroom, open sliding wardrobes with separate sections for each of them, and a beautifully appointed bathroom. A dedicated home office was designed for the husband, who continues to work from home, along with a nearby guest restroom.
The result is a compact yet remarkably functional home – tailored precisely to how this couple lives today. Every material and piece of furniture was chosen together with the clients, honoring their personal taste and the sentimental pieces they brought with them from their previous home.
