A small footprint, a grand vision, and a very large rooftop terrace.
This luxury penthouse in a new Tel Aviv residential development presented a clear design challenge: how to create a spacious, functional, and luxurious home within a relatively compact interior. The clients – an older couple living with their youngest child – had equally clear priorities: functionality above all, without compromising on a clean, refined aesthetic.
The apartment was originally planned as six rooms. I reconfigured the layout entirely – removing one bedroom to enlarge the kitchen and significantly expand the living and dining areas, creating a more generous and impressive entrance that opens directly toward the large terrace. The result includes a large master bedroom, three additional rooms – one of which serves as a playroom and guest space for grandchildren – a spacious living room designed for hosting, a large dining area, and a closed kitchen intentionally positioned out of direct sightlines from the living room.
The kitchen is enclosed by a low wall that creates separation while maintaining visual continuity and a sense of openness. The wall also incorporates a breakfast bar – a practical detail that adds to the flow of the space.
The material palette is light and carefully considered: large-format light tiles, white walls, and a light gray-yellow Corian countertop. These neutral tones serve as a quiet backdrop that allows the custom carpentry elements to stand out – a dark wood veneer feature wall in the living room, bold red cabinetry in the bathrooms, and wardrobes in the master bedroom designed in three graduated shades of gray.
Lighting fixtures were selected with the same level of care, contributing to an atmosphere that feels clean and elegant while remaining genuinely warm.
